2. What is the goal of your public computer center? If it currently is not set up do you have organizational capacity for one?: 
CMAP's new computer and media center in Hollister would enable rural access to media production, increase the number of life-long broadband users, and provide trainings and services to hundreds of low-income residents, minorities, English-language learners and at-risk youth, in partnership with the Hollister Youth Alliance, the San Benito Free Library, San Benito Community Foundation and other non-profits. Residents are currently traveling 40 minutes to access the media and technology training and resources at CMAP's main office in Gilroy. As part of the BMAP program, CMAP's resources would be more easily accessible to youth and residents in Hollister and San Juan Bautista.

Our new computer/media center will be available to all members of the general public, however, our project focuses on non-profit organizations, low-income residents, and low-income youth, the majority of whom represent communities of color and immigrants or new Americans.

17. Please describe your center's outreach strategy and how can you reach communities lacking broadband access. : 
CMAP will promote the BMAP project in the Hollister and San Juan Bautista communities to recruit new CMAP members, attract non-profit organizations, youth and residents to the media production and training program and fee-based services. CMAP will use newspaper columns, advertisements, community events, newsletters, and email lists to promote the programs.
19. How will you measure the program's impact in reaching disconnected communities and increase broadband adoption?: 
Measurement will include intake surveys for each training, and evaluations at the end of each training program in regard to both skills, broadband interest/use, and how the participants heard about the BMAP program.
20. Please describe your primary training and educational programs, including curricula, student certification programs, etc.: 
Examples of classes offered: media production, camera, screenwriting, digital storytelling, lighting, narration, citizen journalism, claymation, community documentation, Internet applications for non-profits, paypal and online fundraising, social networking, video content online, web development, online marketing, and video blogging. CMAP would be able to train several evenings a week, offer specialized trainings, and our computer lab would be open in the evenings for free broadband access, video production, and classes. Media and computer training programs would focus on non-profits, youth, low-income residents, and minorities, as extension of CMAP’s media and technology classes currently offered in Gilroy but not yet in Hollister.

A New Media Coordinator will be hired to operate the community media and technology center extension in Hollister, and through continuation of the job training program, local underserved youth will be hired to assist with community media production and social media trainings. Staff from CMAP’s center in Gilroy will assist several days each week to provide additional trainings, membership orientations, and assist with media production.

With funding from the Open Media Project, CMAP plans to hire a qualified Drupal developer to update our existing Drupal website with the defined modules of the project.
